This Chestnut tree suggests that Autumn is on its way.  Officially starting on the 22nd September, autumn is a great time of year to visit the Lake District, with the constantly changing scenery and colours of gold, brown & yellow .  There is always plenty to do in the Lake District, here are just a selection of events coming soon.

The Festival of the Fells, a festival celebrating the fells around Ambleside, the people who walk, climb, cycle and even swim on them. There will be guided walks and swims, illustrated talks and lectures, films, music, special menus in local restaurants and cafes. It will start on Thursday Sept 22 at mid-day and continue until early afternoon Sunday Sept 25. The event is organised by Ambleside Together. https://www.facebook.com/LoveAmbleside/

Prom Art at Grange over Sands.  If you fancy a stroll beside spectacular, ever changing landscapes with an atmosphere of a European street market, then come to Grange over Sands and experience Prom Art, now its 12th year.  There are more than 70 stalls stretching half the Prom’s length giving browsers an opportunity to see the work of brand new artists and crafters and those with much more experience. Regular items for sale include Fine Art, Prints, Photography, Sketches, Cards, Pottery, Upcycled and Recycled Jewellery, Turned and Green Woodwork, Fused Glass, Silversmithing, Millinery, Ceramics, Knitwear and Textiles.   Held on the last Sunday of every month between April and September.

Taste Cumbria Local producers from across the county will be showcasing the very best of Cumbria produce at Cockermouth. Bring the children along as we have children’s activities available all weekend along with food and drink demonstrations and our ever popular masterclasses. At the Trout hotel we will also be entertaining everyone with comedy on Friday night and why not dance the night away with some live music on Saturday night. The very popular beer festival is back along with Simon Rogan’s Pop Up Restaurant which is being held in a secret location!
