Thornthwaite Farm is a working farm with a number of sheep ranging across the area. Our lambing season normally runs from 1 April to 31 May.
Most of our sheep are “mules”, which are a Swaledale ewe crossed with a Blue Faced Leicester ram. The resultant sheep is then crossed with a Beltex or Texel ram.
For more information about the different sheep breeds in the UK, have a look at The National Sheep Association.
